            Leaders as Motivators: Attitude Makes the Difference
How can leadership be effective in a constantly changing work environment – and what role does mindset play in this process?
These were the key questions explored at this year’s bankersXchange, the networking event for banking executives, held on 29 October 2025 in Frankfurt.
Under the motto “Leaders as Motivators – Attitude Makes the Difference”, executives from various institutions came together to gain new perspectives on leadership and motivation – and did so in an unexpected way: by using LEGO®.
Reflecting on Leadership Through Play
Guided by Christian Henzler (New Worxx), participants used the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method to think about leadership in a creative yet profound way.
Through building, visualising and storytelling, complex topics became tangible, opening new perspectives on key leadership questions:
- What do my employees really need?
- What do younger generations expect from the new world of work?
- How can I motivate without demotivating?
- And how do I create a positive and supportive work environment?
The response was overwhelmingly positive: the playful, interactive format sparked creativity, openness, and honest exchange. Within a short time, the 25 participants connected on a new level – sharing ideas, experiences and reflections in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.
Three Key Insights on Leadership and Motivation
From the group discussions and reflections, three main insights emerged that define what good leadership looks like today:
1️⃣ Appreciation – it has many dimensions, from interpersonal recognition to professional support and fair compensation.
2️⃣ Providing direction – leadership means setting clear boundaries, leading by example, and guiding teams through challenging times.
3️⃣ Creating freedom – allowing space for individual ideas and decisions, encouraging responsibility, and valuing collaboration within the team.
These findings reinforced a central message: attitude matters – it’s the foundation for motivation, trust, and long-term engagement.
Exchange at Eye Level
bankersXchange 2025 once again demonstrated how valuable creative and interactive formats can be for rethinking leadership and strengthening dialogue among decision-makers.
Through open exchange and shared reflection, participants gained new perspectives – showing that leadership doesn’t start with strategy or structure, but with an inner attitude that inspires others.
