Panel moderation: Growth financing in Germany as a financial center - from financial center to financing center

Venture capital: not rocket science - but crucial for Germany's innovative strength

How can innovative ideas not only be developed in Germany, but also successfully financed and brought to market? This question was the focus of our panel at the Flagship Conference at the Frankfurt Financial Center. The clear message: now is the time to invest!

Our panelists agreed that Germany currently has unique opportunities for investment and innovation. The right framework conditions are needed to ensure that these do not go unused:

  • Deep, liquid markets and a functioning secondary market are essential. Compared to the USA, the fragmentation of European markets represents a competitive disadvantage.
  • Promote talent. Promising initiatives for education and training in the venture capital sector - for example at Frankfurt School and ESMT - are an important step in the right direction.
  • Broaden the view. Impulses from neighboring countries such as France can also help to strengthen the VC market in this country.
  • More transparency and trust. Realistic expectations, more market information and trust in viable business models are key factors.

Strengthen the financial center. As a location, Frankfurt must play a central role in venture capital.
