About us

For over 70 years we have been a dependable support and lobbying organisation for private banks operating in the state of Hesse. We are located in Frankfurt – the European financial metropolis on the River Main.

The association now has over 100 members, which employ a total of around 37,000 staff and include big banks, regional banks, mortgage banks, private banks and branches of foreign banks.

The main focus of our work is to expand and strengthen the position of Frankfurt as a financial centre. To this end, we promote dialogue between our member banks and offer a platform for exchange and interaction by organising events and discussion forums. In addition, we cooperate with other associations and discuss issues of industry-wide importance.

We also represent the interests of our members to lawmakers and public authorities in Hesse. Our aim is to provide constructive input to economic policy initiatives in Hesse, thus establishing suitable framework conditions for sustainable economic development in the state.

Economic education and the promotion of financial studies and research are important to us. For this reason, we offer targeted training programmes that are not limited to our member banks. These include an advanced training seminar for teachers organised in cooperation with the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. In addition, we support committed young talents at Goethe University with the Germany Scholarship.

We are also actively involved in supporting business start-ups and innovation financing in Hesse. We do this through our participation in Bürgschaftsbank Hessen GmbH and MBGH Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Hessen mbH.

We are a member of the Association of German Banks in Berlin, the umbrella organisation of the private banking sector in Germany. Through close cooperation we benefit from the expertise of this leading professional association in numerous specialist areas. At the same time, we give voice to the interests of our members both nationally and internationally via the federal association.
